Magnesium

Magnesium is an essential mineral required for human health. It’s the 4th most abundant mineral in the body and is utilised in more than 300 metabolic reactions including energy production, electrolyte balance, regulation of muscle contraction and nerve conduction.

 

In clinic we often see people with depleted magnesium intake due to a wide range of reasons including:

  • Poor dietary habits

  • Pharmaceutical drug use

  • Nutrient-depleted growing soils

Other reasons why people may be depleted in magnesium could be caused by underlying factors impacting magnesium absorption and status such as:

  • Digestive issue impacting absorption

  • Increased sweating

  • Acute and chronic stress *
