Allergies and Food Intolerances

Over the last 50 years, there has been a dramatic rise in allergic disorders in children. Conditions such as hayfever, dermatitis, eczema and asthma are now very common in children.

Did you know that 1 in 11 children suffer asthma, 20% of children develop eczema before the age of five and 1 in 20 children suffer from severe food allergies.

Food sensitivities or intolerances are less dramatic than true food allergies, but can often be harder to identify. These are commonly caused by wheat and dairy, but in reality, any food can cause an intolerance.

Food intolerances build up over time and present at any age. Often they relate to a food your child has often in their diet. Children often crave the food that is causing them the most problems.

Unfortunately today, we also need to be aware that many of the chemicals found in our food and the environment also causes reactions in our children.
